Requirements:

  • Steam Guard must be enabled on both the sharing and borrowing accounts. You can enable it in Steam Settings > Account.

Steps:

  1. Log into the sharing account (the account with the games) on the computer you want to share from.
  2. Go to Steam Settings > Family.
  3. Click “Authorize Library Sharing on this device”.
  4. Check the box next to the account you want to share your library with. This account must have also logged into this computer before.
  5. Click “OK”.

On the borrowing account:

  1. Log in to your Steam account on the same computer.
  2. You should now see the shared games in your library. They will be marked as "From the library of [sharing account name]".
  3. Click "Install" to download and play the game.

Important points:

  • Only one person can play a shared game at a time. If the sharing account tries to play a game you're currently playing, you'll be kicked out.
  • You can authorize up to 10 devices and share your library with up to 5 accounts, but only one account can be actively using your library at a time.
  • Sharing is limited to devices, not accounts. This means anyone who logs into an authorized device can access the shared library.
