Unlike some Android devices, iPhones don't have a built-in feature to lock apps with a separate password or fingerprint. However, there are a couple of workarounds you can use to achieve a similar outcome:

1. Restrict App Usage with Screen Time:

  • This method utilizes Apple's built-in Screen Time feature to limit access to specific apps and require a passcode to exceed those limits.

Here's how to do it:

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Tap **Screen Time**.
3. Turn on **Screen Time** if it's not already enabled. You might need to tap **Continue** and follow the on-screen prompts to set up a Screen Time passcode. This passcode will be required to access restricted apps or extend time limits.
4. Tap **App Limits**.
5. Tap **Add Limit**.
6. Choose the category of apps you want to limit (All Apps & Categories or select individual apps).
7. Tap **Next**.
8. Set a time limit for app usage (e.g., 1 minute). This effectively locks the app after that timeframe.
9. Tap **Add** to confirm.

Now, whenever someone tries to use a restricted app beyond the set time limit, they'll be prompted to enter the Screen Time passcode. This restricts excessive app usage and requires a passcode for extended use.

2. Use Guided Access (for temporary restrictions):

  • This method allows you to temporarily restrict access to a specific app while it's in use and requires your passcode to exit Guided Access mode.

Here's how to do it:

1. Open the app you want to temporarily restrict.
2. Triple-click the side button (or the Home button on older iPhones).
3. Tap **Guided Access**.
4. (Optional) To further restrict functionalities, tap **Options** and choose features you want to disable (like volume, touch screen, etc.).
5. Tap **Start** to begin Guided Access mode.

The iPhone screen will be limited to that specific app, and the Home button or swiping gestures will be disabled. To exit Guided Access mode and regain full access to the iPhone, you'll need to triple-click the side/Home button and enter your passcode.
