Prefinished hardwood floors are a beautiful addition to any home, but they require proper care to maintain their shine. Here's a guide on how to clean them effectively:

**Regular Dusting:**

* This is key to prevent dirt and debris from scratching the surface.

* Sweep daily (or as often as needed) with a soft-bristled broom or use a microfiber mop.

* Vacuum at least once a week using a vacuum cleaner with a hard floor attachment.  Make sure the beater bar is off, if your vacuum has one,  to avoid scratching.

**Monthly Mopping:**

* For a deeper clean, mop your floors with a slightly damp microfiber mop.

* **Crucially, avoid soaking the floors with water.** Too much moisture can damage the finish.

* Use a solution of **pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner** mixed with water according to the manufacturer's instructions.

* **Never use harsh chemicals, vinegar, or ammonia-based cleaners.** These can damage the pre-finished surface.

* Wring the mop thoroughly so it's barely damp.

**Additional Tips:**

* **Clean up spills immediately.** The longer liquids sit, the higher the chance of staining. Blot up spills with a clean, absorbent cloth.

* **Place mats and rugs at entryways** to trap dirt and debris before it gets tracked onto the floor.

* **Avoid using abrasive cleaning pads or scouring powders.** These can scratch the surface.

* **Keep the humidity level in your home between 30% and 50%**  to prevent the wood from warping or cracking.

By following these steps, you can keep your prefinished hardwood floors looking beautiful for years to come.
