Unfortunately, editing iMessages directly after they are sent is not possible on iPhones with iOS versions prior to 16. However, there are two options you have depending on your iPhone's iOS version:
For iPhones with iOS 16 or later:
-
You can edit an iMessage within 15 minutes of sending it. Here's how:
-
Open the Messages app on your iPhone.
-
Select the conversation with the message you want to edit.
-
Touch and hold the message bubble you want to edit.
-
Choose "Edit" from the menu that appears.
-
Make your changes to the text and tap the blue checkmark to send the edited message.
-
The recipient will see a note below the message indicating it was "Edited."
For iPhones with iOS 15 or earlier:
Here are some additional things to keep in mind:
-
The recipient will be notified if you edit a message (iOS 16 only) or undo a message (all iOS versions).
-
Editing or undoing messages is only possible if both you and the recipient are using iMessage.
-
If the recipient is using an older iPhone or a different messaging service, they may not see your edits or receive a notification if you undo a message.
