Google Photos doesn't have a built-in "hidden" album where you can directly add photos. However, there are a couple of ways to achieve a similar result:
-
Archive Photos:
-
This hides the photos from your main view in Google Photos but keeps them accessible if needed.
-
Open the Google Photos app and navigate to the Library tab.
-
Select the photos you want to hide.
-
Tap the three dots menu in the top right corner.
-
Choose "Archive".
-
Archived photos can be accessed by going to the Library tab and swiping down to reveal "Archived" underneath the albums section.
-
Locked Folder (Android only):
-
This creates a password-protected folder within Google Photos for more private photos.
-
This feature is currently only available on the Android version of the Google Photos app.
-
Open the Google Photos app and go to Library > Utilities > Locked Folder.
-
Tap "Set up Locked Folder" and follow the on-screen instructions to create a password.
-
Select the photos you want to add and choose "Move to Locked Folder" from the menu (three dots).
Important Note:
-
Archived photos are still technically stored in your Google Photos account and count towards your storage quota.
-
Locked Folder on Android offers an extra layer of security with a password, but remember that if someone gains access to your phone and unlocks the app, they can view the photos.
