In terms of dimensions, Central Park is about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) long from its northernmost point at 110th Street to its southernmost point at 59th Street, and about 0.5 miles (0.8 kilometers) wide from its westernmost point at Central Park West to its easternmost point at Fifth Avenue. However, the park's layout is irregular, with winding paths, lakes, meadows, and other features that make it seem much larger when exploring its various areas.
