died of a pulmonary embolism on January 6, 1919, at the age of 60. He had been suffering from declining health in the months leading up to his death. On the morning of January 6, 1919, Roosevelt complained of chest pain and difficulty breathing. He collapsed at his home in Oyster Bay, New York, and died shortly afterward. An autopsy revealed that a blood clot had traveled to his lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism, which ultimately led to his death.
