Using a USB Cable (Wired Connection):
This is the simplest and most reliable way to connect your controller, especially for the first time or if your controller's battery is low.
-
Turn on your PS4 with the button on the console itself.
-
Get a USB 2.0 cable (most standard USB cables will work).
-
Plug one end of the cable into a USB port on the PS4.
-
Plug the other end (micro USB) into the port on the top of your PS4 controller.
-
Press the round PlayStation button in the middle of your controller. The light bar on the controller will light up in blue or another color depending on your player profile.
-
You might need to select your user profile on the screen.
Using Bluetooth (Wireless Connection):
This method is useful if your controller is already charged and you prefer a cable-free experience.
-
Turn on your PS4 with the button on the console.
-
Press and hold the PlayStation button on your controller for a few seconds. The light bar will start blinking white.
-
Go to Settings on your PlayStation.
-
Select Devices and then Bluetooth devices.
-
You should see your controller listed under Available Devices. Select it.
-
Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process
