Here's how to do it:
Using a Desktop Browser:
-
Go to https://www.youtube.com/ and make sure you're signed in to the Google account associated with your YouTube channel.
-
Click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select "Settings" from the menu.
-
Under "Account," click on "Advanced settings."
-
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Delete channel."
-
You'll be prompted to choose whether you want to permanently delete your content or hide your channel. Choose "I want to permanently delete my content."
-
You'll need to confirm your decision by checking two boxes:
-
The first box acknowledges that you understand deleting your content is permanent.
-
The second box lets you choose whether to also delete your Google+ content (if applicable).
-
Once you've reviewed the information and made your selections, click on "Delete my content" to permanently delete your YouTube account.
Important Notes:
-
Deleting your YouTube account is irreversible. Once you confirm deletion, you won't be able to recover your content or channel.
-
Deleting your YouTube account only deletes the YouTube portion of your Google account. Your Google account itself will still exist.
Alternative Method (Using Your Google Account):
-
Go to https://www.google.com/account/about/ and sign in to your Google account.
-
Click on "Data & privacy" in the navigation bar.
-
Under "Apps and services," select "Manage your data & privacy."
-
Scroll down to "Download, delete, or plan for your data" and click on "Delete a service or your account."
-
Locate "YouTube" from the list of services and click on the trash can icon next to it.
-
Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm your deletion request.
Remember, both methods achieve the same outcome - permanently deleting your YouTube account. Choose whichever way feels more comfortable for you.
