Here's how to do it on both the mobile app and desktop version:
Using the Facebook Mobile App:
-
Open the Facebook app and navigate to your profile by tapping your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
-
Find the post you want to delete by scrolling through your profile feed.
-
Tap the three dots (...) in the top right corner of the specific post.
-
A menu will appear. Select "Move to trash".
-
A confirmation message will pop up. Tap "Move" to confirm deletion.
Using Facebook on Desktop:
-
Go to https://www.facebook.com/pages and log in to your account.
-
Click on your name at the top of the page to navigate to your profile.
-
Locate the post you want to delete on your profile timeline.
-
Hover your mouse over the three dots (...) in the top right corner of the post.
-
From the menu, select "Move to trash".
-
Click "Move" in the confirmation pop-up window to permanently delete the post.
Important Notes:
-
In both methods, deleted posts are placed in the trash for 30 days before being permanently removed.
-
If you want to recover a post you've deleted within that timeframe, you can access your "Activity Log" (mobile app only) and restore it from the trash.
-
Deleting a post only removes it from your profile. If you've shared the post in a group or on someone else's timeline, it might still be visible there. You'd need to contact the group admin or the person who shared it to request its removal.
